ST. LOUIS — Adam Wainwright, who has been a fixture in St. Louis since the Cardinals‘ world championship 2006 season, will be back for another go-round.
The Cardinals announced Thursday that the club and the 37-year-old right-hander have agreed to terms on a one-year contract.
Wainwright, who is 148-85 with a 3.32 ERA in his major league career — all with St. Louis, including his two-game MLB debut in 2005 — missed most of last season with a right elbow injury. He returned in September and pitched in four games, all starts, going 1-1 with a 4.84 ERA.
His best start was a Sept. 16 win over the Dodgers in which he allowed only two hits over six scoreless innings and struck out nine batters.
