The New England Patriots have made a lot of moves this offseason that will ensure that Tom Brady has the chance to achieve the perfect season next year. NFL teams should have been more thankful that the Patriots did not acquire star cornerback Richard Sherman from the Seattle Seahawks.

According to Ian Rapoport of, the Patriots were one of the teams that were interested in acquiring Sherman this offseason. But since the Seahawks were asking too much for arguably the best cornerback in the league, the Patriots did not continue their pursuit.

The Seahawks are not shopping Sherman but they are open to discussing a potential deal. In an interview with Sheil Kapadia of ESPN, Seahawks general manager John Schneider revealed that they are going to listen to offers.

“I mean, we listen. We listen to like everything you would think. We’re in a lot of stuff. We try to pride ourselves on that. I think I’ve told you guys before we walk away from 98 percent of the deals that we’re involved with or talking about,” Schneider said.

Despite the rumors and speculations, many people believe that the Seahawks will not trade Richard Sherman this offseason. The Seahawks still have a great team that can contend for the Super Bowl next season.

On the other hand, the Patriots ended up signing free agent cornerback Stephon Gilmore to a five-year, $65 million deal. Gilmore’s first move with the team was naming his daughter Giselle, something that Tom Brady appreciated, per Sporting News. For those who do not know, Brady’s wife is supermodel Giselle Bündchen.

Other moves the Patriots made this offseason to help Tom Brady defend their Super Bowl title include acquiring Brandin Cooks and Dwayne Allen. They also signed free agents Rex Burkhead and Lawrence Guy and re-signed linebacker Dont’a Hightower. The Patriots are also linked with a potential reunion with Darrelle Revis and they could still re-sign Malcolm Butler.
