Skip Bayless: ‘Even with Paul George and Eric Bledsoe, Cleveland couldn’t challenge Golden State’

SKIP BAYLESS: I will agree with you, and agree with LeBron, that if he had Eric Bledsoe and Paul George, they would be better, a little better, but maybe not a whole lot better. Because I’m going to remind you, the Milwaukee Bucks acquired Eric Bledsoe, and he’s been there for 36 games. And what just happened? They’re such a disappointment that Jason Kidd got fired. So did Eric Bledsoe change life in Milwaukee?

SKIP BAYLESS: No, he did not. Would he have changed life with the Cavaliers? He is a client of LeBron’s, so maybe. But I don’t think he’s going to be a difference maker that you think.

SHANNON SHARPE: The greatest basketball player, or an argument for the greatest basketball player ever was in Milwaukee. And he wanted out– Kareem.

SHANNON SHARPE: So you’re not winning in Milwaukee because you can’t attract the attention. Ain’t nobody going there. Giannis, as great as he is, Skip, you need other pieces.

SKIP BAYLESS: He just paired up Bledsoe with Greek Freak, and what happened?

SHANNON SHARPE: He ain’t Bron.

SKIP BAYLESS: 500 happened.

SHANNON SHARPE: Oh, Greek Freak Bron now?

SKIP BAYLESS: No, I didn’t say that.

SKIP BAYLESS: But I’m saying you two pretty good pieces in the Eastern Conference, and Jason Kidd just got fired.

SKIP BAYLESS: OK, so how good is Eric Bledsoe? I don’t know.

SHANNON SHARPE: I think he’d be a lot better with Bron.

SKIP BAYLESS: Well, sure he’d be a little better. He’d be better than that little man.

SKIP BAYLESS: But he’s not going to change your life. And Paul George, or as I call him, George Paul, he’s still a complementary star. He’s not a super star.

SHANNON SHARPE: I still take it. I take Paul George.

SKIP BAYLESS: I got you, but ask Russell– I wish we could put Russell Westbrook on a lie detector right there about what he really sees in Paul George. Because the truth is they all united. It was three, quote, unquote, superstars, with Melo, and Paul George, and Russell. And what’s happened? 27 and 20 has happened. And they’ve been a first half disappointment. And they had just won five straight games to climb to 27 and 20.

SHANNON SHARPE: But Skip, it’s hard when you got three guys that basically play the same way. They need the ball to do things. What worked so well with Magic and Kareem, Kareem didn’t need the ball to dominate. Magic would drop it to him. Bird, McHale, and Parrish, they worked because they were so totally different. You got three of the exact same guys.

SKIP BAYLESS: OK, but what did you say yesterday? Paul George does not deserve to be on the All Star team, right?

SHANNON SHARPE: But that doesn’t mean he’s not a good player.

SKIP BAYLESS: He’s a good player. Eric Bledsoe’s a good player. But if you give LeBron Eric Bledsoe and Paul George right now, are they that much better? Are they ready to challenge Golden State?

SHANNON SHARPE: Look here Skip–
