Should the Stanford Cardinals be in the College Football Playoffs?

In 2017, Stanford Cardinals football have shown they belong with the elite teams. Led by sophomore quarterback K.J. Costello the Cardinals finished the 2017 season with a 9-4 record and a birth in the conference championship game representing the PAC-12 north division. In the PAC-12 Championship game, the Stanford Cardinals played the 1st place south division USC Trojans. However, in a close game, the USC Trojans won 31-28. Costello led the charge for the season. With 1,361 passing yards, 11 touchdowns and 2 interceptions, he took this team from the bottom to the top.

Stanford has the capability to be in the playoffs. The only concern is that they have no quality wins to show for.
