The Oakland Raiders are in the NFL news often this off-season and not because of any roster movements, but mostly because of where the Oakland Raiders will be playing in the next couple of years.
The Oakland Raiders are set to move to Las Vegas, barring any significant changes. Before their move to Las Vegas, the Oakland Raiders, meanwhile, are also reportedly playing in a different stadium, either in San Antonio or with the San Francisco 49ers at Levi’s Stadium. The Oakland Raiders currently have a lease at Oakland Stadium through 2018, but can back out after the 2017 season. The only news lately that involves player movements is the gaping hole in the Oakland Raiders running back position. The Oakland Raiders are still looking for a starting running back and have their eyes set on Marshawn Lynch.
According to a report from 247Sports, the Oakland Raiders are locked in on retired Seattle Seahawks running back Marshawn Lynch as their desired starting quarterback for next season. Even though there are reports that the Oakland Raiders is the desired destination of free agent running back Adrian Peterson, the Oakland Raiders are dead set on acquiring Marshawn Lynch.
Given the need for a starting running back, the Oakland Raiders’ best options right now are Marshawn Lynch and Adrian Peterson. Marshawn Lynch is currently retired but there are reports that he’s contemplating a comeback with the Oakland Raiders.
Adrian Peterson is an unrestricted free agent since being released by the Minnesota Vikings and the Oakland Raiders can sign him outright. The Minnesota Vikings released Adrian Peterson on Feb. 28, as reported by the NFL News.
The Oakland Raiders choosing Marshawn Lynch over Adrian Peterson is a wise decision for the Oakland Raiders. Aside from Marshawn Lynch being an Oakland native, he’s healthier and better compared to Adrian Peterson.
The only problem for the Oakland Raiders if ever they convince Marshawn Lynch to come out of retirement is that the Seattle Seahawks still hold Marshawn Lynch’s rights. The Seattle Seahawks would have to release Marshawn Lynch or the Oakland Raiders would have to work out a trade.
