The Oakland Raiders were off to a hot start during last year’s NFL season. Unfortunately, bad luck proved to be a powerful opponent to overcome as the leg injury of Oakland Raiders’ quarterback Derek Carr dashed their hopes of a Super Bowl title. Now, with a new season to look forward to, the Oakland Raiders are looking to add someone to help them get over the hump. That certain someone is retired Seattle Seahawks star running back Marshawn Lynch.

In a report from ESPN, the Oakland Raiders are seriously trying to acquire the services of retired running back Marshawn Lynch. Marshawn Lynch retired from the NFL a year ago after playing for nine seasons.

Marshawn Lynch, 30, last played in the NFL in 2015 for the Seattle Seahawks. The man known as “Beast Mode”, Marshawn Lynch helped the Seattle Seahawks beat the Denver Broncos to win Super Bowl XLVIII back in the 2013 season.

Marshawn Lynch’s last season playing in the NFL, however, was an injury-filled year. Marshawn Lynch was just limited to seven games as a result of his various injuries during that season.

During his last season, Marshawn Lynch finished the season with 417 rushing yards and three touchdowns. Marshawn Lynch did return for the post season but managed just 20 rushing yards on six carries as the Seattle Seahawks lost to the Carolina Panthers.

But getting Marshawn Lynch is easier said than done for the Oakland Raiders. Marshawn Lynch’s NFL rights still remain with the Seattle Seahawks.

The Oakland Raiders would have to trade for Marshawn Lynch. Another option would be for the Seattle Seahawks to release Marshawn Lynch, with the sole intent of having Marshawn Lynch sign with the Oakland Raiders.

Convincing Marshawn Lynch to return may also prove difficult for the Oakland Raiders. Marshawn Lynch has said last summer that his decision to retire is already final, as ESPN reported. Never the less, the Oakland Raiders are still serious in their efforts to try and convince Marshawn Lynch to come back in the NFL.
