In the NFL, most teams only have two quarterbacks. One quarterback as the starter. The other quarterback as a reliever or back up in times when the starting quarterback needs to rest in some games and in other cases, when the starting quarterback gets injured. Since football is a very physical sport and there’s a high risk for injuries, having a backup quarterback is really a must. Having three quarterbacks is a luxury. The New York Jets at the moment already has three quarterbacks and are looking to add another one as the New York Jets are looking at the North Carolina Tar Heels star quarterback Mitchell Trubisky.

According to a report from Rich Cimini of ESPN, the New York Jets are interested in North Carolina Tar Heels quarterback Mitchell Trubisky. The New York Jets will be there at Mitchell Trubisky’s pro day on Tuesday and are planning to be back in Chapel Hill, North Carolina for a private workout.

In a draft class that most people think is not deep and strong, Mitchell Trubisky is widely considered as the top quarterback prospect. With the number six overall pick in this year’s draft, the New York Jets are intrigued by the possibility of drafting Mitchell Trubisky at number six.

The New York Jets just signed Josh McCown on Monday, via a report from the Bleacher Report. That brings the total to three quarterbacks in the New York Jets roster.

If the New York Jets do add Mitchell Trubisky, that means one of those three quarterbacks are bound to be let go. Bryce Petty, a fourth-round pick from 2015, seems likely the odd man out.

While most experts list Mitchell Trubisky as one of the best passers in the 2017 draft class, there are still doubts about his potential in the NFL owing to his lack of experience at the FBS level. Mitchell Trubisky was stuck behind Marquise Williams for three years with the North Carolina Tar Heels. Mitchell Trubisky made his only start in the 2016 season and was impressive. That impressive year as a starter was what made the New York Jets interested in drafting him.
