Free agent running back Adrian Peterson was once considered one of the most feared running back in the NFL. NFL teams would do anything to have Adrian Peterson on their roster. Now, it seems, the exact opposite is happening. What was once a hot commodity before, now Adrian Peterson is struggling to find a team that would be willing to sign him. Teams that were once knocking on Adrian Peterson’s door are now shying away from him and don’t want to be near him.

As reported by Larry Brown Sports, the New York Giants reportedly don’t have an interest in signing Adrian Peterson mainly because of one specific reason. That specific reason involves the way the New York Giants handled kicker Josh Brown.

Josh Brown was the New York Giants kicker from 2013 to 2016. In May of 2015, Josh Brown was arrested on domestic violence charges. Adrian Peterson was also involved on domestic violence charges.

Josh Brown admitted to physically abusing his wife. As a result, Josh Brown was placed on the commissioner’s exempt list. But despite all of that, Josh Brown still remained on the New York Giants’ roster until he was eventually released in October of last year. The New York Giants were widely criticized for the way they handled Josh Brown. Signing Adrian Peterson would further damage the New York Giants’ image and brand.

The New York Giants were one of the preferred teams of Adrian Peterson. One reason is due to the New York Giants need of a running back, after they released Rashad Jennings. The New York Giants released Rashad Jennings to clear up cap space, according to a report from the Bleacher Report.

The New York Giants, however, still have no intention of signing Adrian Peterson because of his past legal troubles. Adrian Peterson was indicted on charges of child abuse in September of 2014.
