Coming into this off season, the New York Giants have a lot of things to address in terms of their players and potential free agent signings. One of them is their defensive end Jason Pierre-Paul.

Defensive end Jason Pierre-Paul and the New York Giants have reportedly agreed to a new deal, according to a report from ESPN. The new deal is said to be a four-year contract with Jason Pierre-Paul set to get about $17 million per year with $54 million guaranteed.

Jason Pierre-Paul was slapped with the non-exclusive franchise tag last month by the New York Giants. The franchise tag was for a one-year contract worth $16.9 million.

Both the New York Giants and Jason Pierre-Paul were reportedly nowhere near a deal last February. With the both sides agreeing to a new contract, that seems to be no longer an issue.

Jason Pierre-Paul, 28, was a first-round draft pick by the New York Giants and is entering his eight season with the New York Giants. Jason Pierre-Paul, nicknamed JPP, has repeatedly stated that he wants long-term security.

“I’m not playing on no one-year deal,” Jason Pierre-Paul said after the New York Giants lost to the Green Bay Packers in last season’s playoffs.

Jason Pierre-Paul made national headlines when he had a gruesome right hand injury back in 2015 in a Fourth of July fireworks accident. As a result of the accident, Jason Pierre-Paul lost his right index finger and badly damaged his right hand. Many thought that it’s the end of his career and that Jason Pierre-Paul would never be able to play again.

Jason Pierre-Paul proved everybody wrong as he returned from that gruesome injury to post one sack in eight games in the 2015 season. The following season, Jason Pierre-Paul came back even stronger as he recorded seven takedowns and three forced fumbles.

Despite reports that the New York Giants and Jason Pierre-Paul have agreed on a new deal, no contract has been signed as of yet. Jason Pierre-Paul confirmed with his tweet that he hasn’t signed any contract yet, as reported by CBS Sports.
