It was four years ago that Colin Kaepernick was in discussion of the NFL greats and every team wanted to his abilities in their ranks. But now here we are in 2017, an year after his national anthem row and people are not seeing him in that way.

Kaepernick was touted at par with Russell Wilson four years ago at his peak, now fast forward to 2017, Wilson has won a Super Bowl, married R&B star Ciara. He also became one of the prominent faces of NFL. Kaepernick had to deal with loads of injuries and a controversial kneel down on national anthem moment last year which attracted the bad attention of people.

In 12 starts last season, Kaepernick completed over 59 percent of his passes for over 2,200 yards with 16 touchdowns and 4 interceptions. Following the season, he opted out of his contract with the 49ers and became a free agent who is eligible to sign with any team.

Well, now the question arises as to whether political hindrance and his reluctance to deal with perceived baggage force every NFL owner not to buy him. However, Kaepernick has made it clear that he will stand for the national anthem come the next season but so far amid crazy NFL free agencies, there has been no news any team interested in the player.

So, these things are hindering Kaepernick to move forward, political reluctance can really make the situation. It is widely expected that NFL teams would rather deal with anything related to race and racism matters. For now, the bottom three quarter-backs in NFL who start will act as Kaepernick’s backup inspite of his declining performance.

The bottomline is if Kaepernick remained unsigned then he may blame himself a bit but racism and race has a big part in it, his on-field hasn’t been good too once he got injured. It is certainly the end of Kaepernick era in NFL high ranks.
