LA Kings acquire F Rieder, G Wedgewood from Coyotes in exchange for G Kuemper

The LA Kings have made another mid-week trade.

The club acquired right wing Tobias Rieder and goaltender Scott Wedgewood from the Arizona Coyotes in exchange for goaltender Darcy Kuemper, Kings Vice President and General Manager Rob Blake announced on Wednesday.

Rieder and Wedgewood are expected to be in Los Angeles in time for tomorrow morning’s game day skate at 10 a.m.

“We continue to look for opportunities to improve our team speed and Tobias will bring that dynamic to our club,” said Blake. “We appreciate Darcy Kuemper’s contributions this season as he has played very well for us in his role.”

Rieder, 25, has 51 goals and 111 points in 292 career regular season games – all with Arizona.  In 58 games this season, he has eight goals and 19 points.

Wedgewood, also 25, has a record of 5-9-4 with a goals-against-average of 3.45 and a save-percentage of .893 with one shutout in 20 appearances this season.

Kuemper, in 19 games with the Kings, posted a 10-1-3 record, a 2.10 goals-against-average, a .932 save percentage and three shutouts.

The LA Kings host the Stars on Thursday at 7p on FSW and FOX Sports GO.
