It’s has been a rough off-season for former Minnesota Vikings and free agent running back Adrian Peterson. Only a few NFL teams have expressed interest in signing him after the Minnesota Vikings released him earlier this month. Most NFL teams are shying away from Adrian Peterson due to his past legal troubles. Good thing for Adrian Peterson, though, is that he’s in no rush to sign with any team. But if ever Adrian Peterson does decide to sign with a team, there’s one team that is interested in him.

According to the Detroit Free Press, the Detroit Lions are interested in signing Adrian Peterson, saying that Adrain Peterson still has plenty left in his tank. Adrian Peterson became a free agent when the Minnesota Vikings declined his contract option on March 9.

Speaking to reporters during the NFL’s Annual League Meetings for team owners on Monday, Minnesota Vikings General Manager Bob Quinn said that Adrian Peterson can still definitely play in the NFL. Bob Quinn, however, declined to comment further regarding the Detroit Lions’ interest on Adrian Peterson.

“I think AP definitely has plenty left in the tank,” Bob Quinn told reporters. “So we’ll kind of see how it goes.”

The Detroit Lions have been busy this off-season shoring up their offensive line by signing right tackle Rick Wagner and right guard T.J. Lang. But the Detroit Lions’ still have a problem at the running back position and that’s where Adrian Peterson may come in and help the Detroit Lions fill that position.

Interest for Adrian Peterson from other teams has been few. One reason is that Adrian Peterson is already 32 years old and most teams would rather get a younger and cheaper running back in this year’s NFL draft.

Probably the main reason why most teams are not interested is because of Adrian Peterson’s past legal issues. Adrian Peterson was indicted on charges of reckless or negligent injury to a child on Sept. of 2014, as ESPN reported.
