In the times of technology and millennials protesting, music has been the one factor that has always balanced society, and the one recognized artist to really capture the industry’s attention is none other than Mississippi’s own “BLOCC”! Born in Vicksburg, MS, Lakendrick “BLOCC” Jones grew up in Greenville, MS within the SBC (400) Block neighborhood in which he represents nonstop. Being raised by a loving and supporting mother that gave birth to BLOCC at the age of 15, he and his two younger sisters were well taken care of with the support of his grandmother also.
Around the ages of 10-11, life began to hit BLOCC head on with the shooting of his mom, leaving her not able to walk for while. At this point, BLOCC was forced to become a man and help aid the family of the traumatic void, and so he did successfully! Always having the talent to rap, BLOCC hesitated to pursue the occupation of music seriously until his arrival in Killeen, Texas at the age of 23. Hosting parties and receiving great feedback encouraged this now business mogul to not just be persistent, but to carve out a piece of territory in the music industry for himself.
Meeting Trick Daddy at a CD signing event served him a life lesson, to have more than one song ready to go and to always package the best presentation. Now with more confidence and knowledge to move forward, BLOCC examined his greatest influences growing up, like No limit, HOT BOYZ, Ghetto Boyz, Nas, 2 pac, Biggie, Busta Rhymes, Snoop and Dre, Bun B, Playa fly, 3 6 Mafia, Trick Daddy, DMX, The Game, T.I., Young Jeezy, Yo Gotti, Bun B, Scarface, Wayne, Fabulous, Maino, Cassidy, Jadakiss, B.G. and Ludacris. With so many diverse examples, BLOCC is determined to be considered one of the best at the end of his reign and being accepted by all is a task he has accepted the challenge for.
